Conceived and registered in 2000, Girlracer Magazine has grown from an online forum for female motoring enthusiasts, to an internationally acclaimed online resource, sponsor and promoter of females of all ages, entering and pursuing a career in extreme sport. From its humble beginnings as an online message board for modified car enthusiasts, the company started to attract more and more motor racing fans, that dictated the path Girlracer was to take. Back then, the unique selling point of Girlracer was the motoring and motor racing news which saw the daily hits to the site catapult. Female racers were approaching Girlracer in their droves wanting to be part of the site, which swung Girlracer in an entirely different direction again in that it now promoted all manner of extreme sports participants. The idea for creating a clothing brand was a natural progression and the company saw a huge interest in the range of t-shirts, hoodies and bags available. After receiving 1 million unique hits in 2008, Girlracer celebrated by launching a fully interactive and modern website in order to continue with its work and to appeal to a wider audience. Lifestyle news, blogs, competitions and profiles of female athletes were also added to the existing content indicating further versatility of the brand. As part of Girlracer's quest to promote professional female racers, the company expanded its range of sports by recruiting Powerboat Champions, downhill skiing medallists and even husky racers! This event was the beginning of many sponsorship deals that was to expand to Powerboats and BMX Nationals.
