He started hitting steel ramps seriously in 2003 and won his first South African National contest in 2005. With this success he was invited to the NIGHT of the JUMPs in 2006 and to several other shows and contests like Masters of Dirt and Dubai Xgames. He then struggled with injuries and bad luck, but in 2009 made a massive European comeback, winning the IFMXF Step-up contest in Cologne and reaching the finals at the NIGHT of the JUMPs in Namibia. Alastair has big combos and his signature tweaked extensions in his bag of tricks. Alastair signed a Global Management deal with Berlinièros Sports to raise his international rider profile. The first success of this partnership is a season contract for the 2010 IFMXF tour, which Berlinièros Sports has secured for him. This will see Alastair riding the entire FIM Freestyle MX World Championship series. Berlinièros Sports is working hard with Alastair to get him massive exposure. In conjunction with his existing sponsors and African publicist this will make for a strong team behind Ali. In the next few months Alastair Sayer will ride the following events:
