Porsche Carrera Cup star Sam Tordoff has been announced as the second driver in the Triple Eight run KX Momentum Racing team, alongside two-time champion Jason Plato, for the 2013 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship.
Tordoff, who was revealed as one of the drivers in the new KX Academy – at this year’s Autosport International, will take control of the MG6 for his first full season in the championship.
The 23-year-old, who finished third overall in the Carrera Cup series in 2012, raced for Triple Eight back in 2010 at the BTCC Brand Hatch finale, which saw new team mate Jason Plato raise the trophy for the RML squad.
Speaking to the championship’s leading website btcc.net, Tordoff said; “I’m absolutely ecstatic. It has taken a lot of hard work to get here but the timing is right and everything is in place for me to show what I can do.
“I’ve been racing on the TOCA package for four years now and reaching the BTCC was always the sole intention. But to sign for the best team, with the best car and to have the best team-mate is just unbelievable. I’m just thankful to MG and KX for the opportunity.”
The pair will be hoping to carry on the 2012 success of MG’s return to the series in 2013, which starts at Brands Hatch on 31st March. By Nikki Thompson
