BTCC - Brands Hatch Practice 1(photo by Marc Waller)Jason Plato set the pace for  BTCC first practice with champion Gordon Shedden not far off in second.

Pirtek racing took an excellent  third and fourth with Andrew Jordan and Jeff Smith respectively. Team Hard got their new cars out for both of their new outfits with the Insignia’s of Goff and Cole getting a reasonable amount of running in but even the W Passat of Onslow Cole got it’s first laps, the car having only just been completed. Perhaps understandably they were way down the  field. WSR’s Colin Turkington took fifth in the new WSR NGTC BMW 1 series. There were suggestions around the paddock that some teams weren’t going flat out and are yet to show their hand. This means the order could be very different in qualifying. In the Jack Sears trophy, Joe Girling set the pace from Warren Scott although several of their rivals had problems.
