James Hunt
James Hunt was a controversial British driver who had his first entry in the 1973 Monaco Grand Prix. To the wider audience, he is well-known because of the movie Rush that was released in 2013. James had a formidable rivalry with Niki Lauda, and unlike him, he was prone to alcohol and drugs. Hunt won his first and only Championship in 1976 and retired in 1979. During his career, he drove for Hesketh and McLaren and after retiring, he was a media commentator and a businessman. James died at the age of 45 after suffering a heart attack.

Jim Clark
Even though his family strongly opposed the idea of him being a racer, Jim Clark had a highly successful career. Apart from racing in the F1, he competed in sports cars, tourist cars, and participated in the Indianapolis 500. Jim Clark had 2 Championships to his name, which he won in 1963 and 1965. He died in a car crash during a Formula Two race. Jim Clark won more races (25) and achieved more pole positions (33) than any other driver at the time. Nigel Mansell
Nigel Mansell is the second most successful British driver in the history of Formula 1. In his career, he had 31 wins, 59 podiums, and 1 Championship that he won in 1992. After becoming a champion, he moved to CART, became a champion in his debut season and was the only person held both the World Drivers’ Championship and the American open-wheel National Championship simultaneously.

Lewis Hamilton
And finally, we have the living legend – Lewis Hamilton. He is the most successful British F1 driver in history. Recently, Hamilton won his 6th Championship and now he’s just 1 title away from levelling Schumacher’s record. As of November 2019, Lewis Hamilton has 83 wins and 150 podiums. At the beginning of his career, Hamilton was part of the McLaren team but announced that he will replace Michael Schumacher at Mercedes. The 2019 Championship was his third in a row.
