BTCC double for Matt Neal

BTCC action (photo by Marc Waller)Matt Neal took his second win of the day after a relatively easy victory in race two at Thruxton.

The Honda Yuasa Racing driver won by nearly 1.5 seconds after pulling away at the start. His lead was only briefly cut after a safety car was scrambled to enable the recovery of Daniel Welch’s Proton which had a heavy shunt at Club.

Behind Neal, Tom Onslow Cole had another excellent race, this time to second place overall in his PPCGB.com/Kraftwerk racing VW Passat. Onslow Cole battled Jason Plato earlier in the race but his MG KX momentum Racing MG6 faded and he ended up third.

BTCC action (photo by Marc Waller)There was late race disapointment again for Andrew Jordan in his Pirtek Honda after a slide lost him third place to Gordon Shedden. Prior to tis they had both been pressuring Onslow Cole for second but the incident allowed Onslow Cole to pull away.

Jack Goff impressed in the RCIB Insurance racing Vauxhall Insignia racing the WSR BMW’s and Airwaves Focuses to take ninth and also the reverse grid pole for race 3. It will be interesting to see how well he can finish. He has Adam Morgan (another off track excursion survivor) alongside and Sam Tordoff just behind him for the fnal race of the day.

Both Airwaves cars survived scares when they spun across the track narrowly avoiding rivals.

Lea Wood took the Jack Sears Trophy win but there were only two finishers in that class this time.
