BTCC: Cole HARD. split

James Cole (photo by Marc Waller)James Cole has today announced that he will be leaving the RCIB Insurance Racing team with immediate effect.

Having joined the Team HARD. squad at the beginning of the 2013 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship – running in five out of the ten rounds – Cole has decided to now spend his time concentrating on a 2014 season challenge.

“This was a very hard decision to make – the BTCC is a great championship.” Cole said on the split. “I moved into touring cars this season and it was meant to be the first chapter of my education into driving a tin-top car, but I didn’t feel that I was getting any real grounded into the skills needed by working with Team HARD. That has led to me to seek new opportunities.”

“My mechanics worked tirelessly, and I would like to thank them for all their efforts, but I felt that the best decision for my future would be to leave them.

“I will now look for opportunities with other partners who share the same vision as me and those with the capability of giving me the tools and the experience I need to progress as a top-level touring car driver.”

Cole said he was hoping to make an announcement on future plans in the coming weeks. By Nikki Thompson , photos by Marc Waller.
