The hometown of one of this year’s Dunlop MSA British Touring Car runners is preparing itself for a night of flares and fortune as Ron Howard’s upcoming new film ‘Rush’ which prepares to hit the big screens on 13th September.
Saturday 7th September will see the Regal Cinema in Evesham, Worcestershire, play host to a local premier and exclusive screening of the film. Telling the tale of the 1976 Formula One Championship duel between James Hunt and Niki Lauda, the film features some of the most prestigious F1 cars of the era and stars WIX Racing’s Rob Austin – who also has a minor speaking role alongside actors Chris Hemsworth (Hunt) and Daniel Bruhl (Lauda).
Tickets for this event are limited, so people are being urged to get in quick to avoid disappointment. Tickets will cost £50 – which includes red carpet treatment, champagne reception and a presentation from Rob himself – alongside admission to the after-show party. Dress code is strictly a 1970s theme to incorporate every aspect of the film’s period.
“We can’t wait,” Rob explains. “Just to say a huge thanks to Studio Canal for freeing up a version of the film, WIX for sponsoring the evening and the Regal Cinema for giving us it’s incredible art deco auditorium to show the film.
“Now we can all look forward to a big party in Evesham and help support some great causes into the bargain.”
All proceeds made from the event – which will also include an auction of motorsport memorabilia – will be split between two charities; the Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund, TeamHelps UK charities and The Vale of Evesham School, which provides education for handicapped children.
And if that wasn’t enough, on display throughout the evening will also be Rob’s own Formula One car – a 1976 Surtees – which was also used during the making of the film, and his BTCC WIX Racing Audi.
Tickets for the premier can be purchased by visiting www.theregal.ac or by calling the box-office on 01386 421007.
