Britcar 1000km Silverstone

Podium (photo by Marc Waller)MP Motorsport (Barwell) has won the Britcar 1000km at Silverstone with their drivers Richard Abra and Mark Poole.

The drivers, Who Part of the Britcar 24 hours 2012 winning team, took their Aston Martin Vantage to what eventually proved to be an easy victory when initial opposition from the works Ginetta ended in the cars retirement. The Horsepower racing Aston Martin of Paul Bailey and Andy Schulz took second overall with the Wessex Vehicles Riley completing the podium, taking the position late in the race when the pole sitting Azteca Mosler hit trouble.

Track action (photo by Marc Waller)The production race (Held at simultaneously) was won by the Nissan GT academy team with the two most recent winners, Ashley Oldfield and Salman Al Khater joined by former IRL racerTomas Scheckter. The Johnson/Robinson Set Leon took second, with with the Chamberlain Lotus in third.

The race will revert back to being a 24 hour race in 2014.
