A positive start for Jamie ends with a bang

Jamie Chadwick (photo by Marc Waller)Jamie Chadwick had her first races of the 2014 season at the recent Brands hatch BTCC meeting as she returns for her second season in the Ginetta Junior championship.

With some strong finishes last year she impressed a lot of people in her first season in cars but in 2014 she wants to be a regular front runner with her team JHR.

Testing went well and going into qualifying she felt confident. Her confidence was rewarded with a 4th and a 5th on the grid for the two races.

Race one was on the Saturday and she got a great start taking third place behind Jack Mitchell and James Kellett and spent the rest of the race on their tail. She eventually crossed the line still in third, an excellent way to start the season.

She was out and the car badly damaged. It was a shocking and sad ending to what had been a great weekend for her up until now but the most important thing was that Jamie was unhurt
The DNF dropped her from third to ninth in the championship but with another 18 races to go she has plenty of time to regain ground.

On the positive side though, her podium has given her the confidence to push for the front in the remaining races .

Her next races will be At Donington Park on the 19th and 20th April.   By Marc Waller
