BTCC: Post-race update

BTCC action (photo by Marc Waller)Further to incidents in today’s third and final Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship race of the day, the stewards at Donington Park have announced the drivers who have been penalised.

Fabrizio Giovanardi hit the back of Tom Ingram early on in the race, which saw the Speedworks driver with nowhere to go but into Aron Smith’s Volkswagen. Giovanardi was handed a 30 second time penalty for the incident and also for exceeding track limits during the same race.

Tom Ingram, who finished in thirteenth, has been excluding from the third race standings after an incident where he slammed into the back of Rob Austin’s Audi A4 after outbraking himself, which forced Austin to retire from the race.

The stewards did decide, however, that no action would be taken over Gordon Shedden’s move on Colin Turkington at the final chicane to win the third race.   By Nikki Thompson
