Snetterton; home of Rebecca Racer’s first victory

Rebecca JacksonOn 26th May, Rebecca and Quinntech Racing took the Turtle Boxster fitted with a new set of Michelin tyres to Norfolk based circuit Snetterton.

Changes to the car included a new aero kit with GT3 bumper from Design 911 and a carbon fibre rear spoiler.

Snetterton is a circuit that is very special to Rebecca because it is where she scored her first victory during torrential rain in her 2nd season of racing in the very competitive BRSCC Porsche 924 Championship.

Qualifying started with an attempt to get to grips with the new car setup; this was because the team had been unable to do any circuit testing due to initially working very hard to resolve the mechanical issues from race 2. After a few slow laps to explore the new setup Rebecca was able to push harder and obtain the lap time required to place the team on pole.

Rebecca Jackson and teamRebecca Jackson The weather was glorious sunshine, which allowed her to take advantage of the extra aero and the outstanding grip from the Michelin tyres. When the race started, despite a reasonably good start Rebecca sadly dropped to P2 through turn 1. This was not ideal however with some determination the Quinntech Racing boys were hopeful for a victory. A number of cars spun off the circuit and unfortunately a Safety Car was released. It was out for a very long time whilst the essential removal of damaged or non-running race cars took place. The marshals do a wonderful job of ensuring everyone is protected from incidents as best as possible. Rebecca was unable to retrieve her first place after the safety Car went back in, despite consistently quick lap times. However, a 2nd place trophy to add to the last race’s 3rd place is a result that team are extremely delighted with.

Special thanks to Quinntech Racing, Turtle Wax, Michelin, JMG Porsche, Mintex, HiSpec Motorsport, BTB Exhausts, ITG, Valet Magic, Quantum Racing Suspension, Spraytech, Design 911, RACELOGIC, Rimstock and Ravenol who all play vital roles in Project Le Mans.

The next race is Rockingham on 5th July.
