Jason Plato has won race one here at Silverstone after beating title rival Colin Turkington into second.
Turkington got a great start to shoot off into the lead but Plato wasn’t left behind and after a couple more laps he found his way back through at Brooklands and then was never headed.
Behind Mat Jackson got past Sam Tordoff quite early on to take a well deserved third place for Airwaves racing. The top six were exceptionally close the entire race, with just over a second between the entire leading pack. Despite the closeness they didn’t manage much passing. Behind Tordoff in fourth, Alain Menu and Aron Smith ran together but could never find a way past Tordoff or each other.
The fight for seventh saw position swap much more frequently with Marc Hynes, Rob Collard and Rob Austin all swapping places. Collard won out with Hynes just behind in eighth and Austin taking ninth. Andrew Jordan rounded out the top ten.
The rest of the field saw battles all the way down to last. Several drivers lot out in the struggles. Poor Hunter Abbott looked set for another drive from the back after passing six cars off the line but a shunt with Simon Belcher ended his race on lap one. Tom Ingram had been going well but his car went straight on at Copse near the end of the race with what appeared to be brake issues. Fortunately he stayed out of the wall.
The rest of the top fifteen were; Goff, Giovanardi, Clarke, Shedden and Foster.
