New Skoda Superb priced

Skoda SuperbŠKODA has announced UK full pricing and specifications for the all-new Superb.

The new model will launch later this year with the widest range of engine, transmission and trim level options ever offered to buyers of ŠKODA’s flagship model.

The new Superb will be available with seven engine options with additional option of DSG automatic and 4×4 transmissions on selected models. The engine range consists of four TSI petrol and three TDI diesel units with outputs ranging from 120PS for the entry level diesel 1.6 TDI to 280PS for the new 2.0 TSI engine.

The launch range consists of four trim levels: S, SE, SE L Executive and Laurin & Klement, with each one offering higher specification and equipment levels than comparable models in the current line-up. Despite this impressive hike in specification across the board, ŠKODA has managed to make the new Superb even more affordable with the new 1.4 TSI S model available for £18,640 – some £50 less than the current entry-level S model.

At 4,861mm long and 1,864mm wide, the new Superb is 28mm longer and 47mm wider than its predecessor, while the 2,841mm wheelbase is 80mm longer, allowing for greater space within the passenger compartment. The boot is 30 litres larger than before, at 625 litres, expanding to a cavernous 1,760 litres with the rear seat backs folded. Despite the increased size, the new ŠKODA Superb is up to 75kg lighter than its predecessor, thanks in part to weight-saving measures made available by the car’s advanced MQB construction.

Skoda SuperbAs befits a car at the top of the ŠKODA range, the new Superb is also brimming with new technology and the brand’s acclaimed Simply Clever features. Designed and engineered to make the new Superb safer and more comfortable, the new features include a clever Virtual pedal system that opens the boot with just the wave of a foot under the rear bumper and full integration of Apple and Android smartphones via CarPlay, MirrorLink and Google Android Auto. Safety and convenience features include Blind spot detection, Rear traffic alert, third-generation Park assist and Traffic jam assist.

All Superb models feature alloy wheels, air conditioning, LED rear lights, DAB digital radio and a touchscreen infotainment system. ŠKODA’s comprehensive ESC safety system is also fitted across the range, and has the additional benefit of Multi-Collision brake included – triggering automatic brake intervention upon detection of a collision – as standard.

SE models start from £21,190 and add 17-inch Helios alloy wheels, dual-zone air conditioning, rear parking sensors and cornering front fog lights. The SE’s impressive specification also includes Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and SmartLink – a system that allows smartphone owners to show their phone’s display on the car’s infotainment screen. This offers safe use of a number of helpful functions and apps, including maps and music streaming services, whilst driving. All SE models now also include two umbrellas, one stowed in each of the front doors, a feature only rivalled by the likes of Rolls Royce.

SE L Executive models feature even more premium equipment, including Bi-Xenon headlights with AFS and LED daytime running lights, leather upholstery with heated seats and Columbus satellite navigation with 8-inch touchscreen. Starting from £24,220, SE L Executive models also include 18-inch Zenith alloy wheels, electrically operated boot and Drive mode selection.

For Superb buyers seeking the ultimate in refinement, the new Laurin & Klement model has been specified to meet the most demanding of drivers. The most luxurious and technology-packed car to ever wear the ŠKODA badge, the Superb L&K adds striking 18-inch Pegasus anthracite alloy wheels, tri-zone climate control, 10-speaker CANTON sound system and piano black decorative inserts. The L&K also showcases ŠKODA’s range of advanced technologies with Blind spot detection, Lane assist, Park assist, KESSY keyless entry and start system, TV tuner and Virtual pedal all fitted as standard.
