2015 Harley-Davidson Street XG750 Review

Harley-Davidson

Harley-DavidsonReady to take control of the streets? Now you can with the new cool, dark custom Harley-Davidson Street XG750.

For someone who is a true rider, the Harley-Davidson takes on the long history of the motorcycle and brings it together to meet the standards of modern performance.

Raw and minimalistic, this is the bike for the girl with a rebellious attitude.

The immediate impression you get is a machine that can take tight turns and make quick moves. With a super low seat and a lean chassis, this bike is capable of taking on even the roughest of roads. It comes with the highest quality brakes and a narrow front tyre, along with a large handlebar sweep.

The bike is clearly built with women, and more athletic men shall we say, in mind as the seat is not as wide as the larger fatboy sportster and dyna bikes in the Harley Davidson range making it a very comfortable bike ideal for women.

Attempting to ride on crowded streets brings its own set of demands. However, the Revolution XTM engine is specially designed to approach these challenges. It comes with a six-speed transmission, four valves per head, and it offers instant response when you squeeze the throttle.

The Revolution XTM engine is liquid-cooled and is a mere 749 cubic centimetres. Liquid cooling allows for peak performance throughout many long years of riding. With 60-degree cylinders and lots of torque at the low-end of the spectrum, you can expect the best.

Harley-DavidsonIt has never been easier to ride a Harley-Davidson. Forget trying to tug it off the side-stand again. The low centre of gravity and minimal weight makes it effortless.

In true classic Harley-Davidson style, the seat height is a low 25.7 inches. With a narrow frame, the reach is easy. The low centre of gravity makes manoeuvring at lower speeds a matter of simplicity.

The way you control your Harley has also changed with the new Street model. The mid-mount foot controls are positioned slightly forward to always keep you comfortable. At the same time, they allow for better negotiation in heavy traffic. It comes with a pullback handlebar and a front end with low weight for easier sweeping.

Stopping power is crucial on the road and the Harley-Davidson Street 750 wields single disc brakes with a powerful dual piston calliper. This equals nothing but the best braking power possible.

The super skinny 17-inch front wheel and the 15-inch back wheel are ideal for manoeuvring through urban environments, enabling fast response times, and maximum manoeuvrability.

This all leads to a 60.4-inch wheelbase. This is tiny compared to other similar bikes. You can expect a turning radius that competes with the best bikes on the market. Making a U-turn has never been easier, even on roads filled with parked cars.

The shocks on this bike have been custom-tuned for the weight of the bike and the way you are positioned on the seat. Harley-Davidson has tested the shocks repeatedly to ensure it results in the best possible handling and a silky smooth ride.

Although it’s easy for you to ride the bike, this does not diminish if you decide to bring along a passenger. It’s pointless being a young woman with one of the most coveted bikes on the market if only you can ride it. Thankfully, the Harley-Davidson Street comes with footpegs for a passenger.

Moving over to the electronics, there is a 3.5-inch electronic speedometer. It’s mounted on the handlebars and it comes with trip metre, LED indicators, and an odometer. There are no pointless gimmicks or features. It is all about what you need and nothing else.

Start up the bike and you will instantly get the deep rumble you would expect from any bike with the brand name of Harley-Davidson on it. The sound of the machine has been heavily tuned to ensure the classic Harley-Davidson sound has not diminished with this modern facelift.

Speaking of details, the company hasn’t failed on this front. This is a motorcycle for real motorcycle enthusiasts because, at heart, it is a pure, premium bike from a top quality brand. The fenders and teardrop fuel tank are metal and covered in black and chrome.

This motorcycle comes with an LED taillight and bullet turn signals. You will also find the speed screen inspired by the outlaw street bikes from the 1970s. To complete the look, the bike comes in a range of colours, including vivid black and mysterious red. You can get a completely customised paint job as well, although this will obviously add to the overall cost.

Harley-DavidsonThe engine comes in black, and the detailing is simply astounding. The air cleaner cover and cylinders are blacked-out and polished to make the metal shine. The exhaust has also been given an all-black look. This is the first time Harley-Davidson has attached black exhausts since the Café Racer from the 1970s.

The front end and the aluminium wheels have also received black casting to give the bike an attitude that is tough and aggressive. Chrome has seen heavy usage on this motorcycle; the tank medallion is one of the first chromed areas that stand out.

“The price starts at an astonishingly affordable £5,795 with none of the upgrades” says the Harley Davidson dealer in Leeds it certainly makes this bike very affordable, more information can be found here

However, Harley-Davidson makes it clear that the use of black is designed as a canvas for the individual rider. With an immense number of colour options from the company, any girl can create the custom look and style she wants.
