Abbie Eaton has announced that she will be joining the GT4 class of the British GT championship in 2016.
She will be sharing an Ebor GT Motorsport Maserati GranTurismo MC GT4 with Marcus Hoggarth, who was one of her rivals in the 2015 GT Cup championship.
Abbie spoke about joining the championship;
“It will be my debut year in the championship and after working hard the past few years I am thrilled to have been given this opportunity. The car looks a fantastic piece of kit and I can’t wait to get my hands on it. The car’s balance of performance will be completed over the coming month in preparation for its maiden outing on the British GT Media day at Snetterton on March 15th.”
She has increased support from Sponsors in 2016;
“I am extremely proud to announce Oughtred & Harrison Vehicle Conversions will be supporting me again this year alongside new sponsors Oxley Garage Doors. I am also pleased to announce I am a Brand Ambassador for SOS Rehydrate and will use their rehydration supplements throughout the year to keep me on top form! And to top things off I will continue to display the BRDC Rising Star logo on my car for another year. Thank you to everyone for continuing to support me and I hope to make you all proud by getting some great results!”
In other British GT news, Team Hard have announced the first of their driver pairings to drive one for two Ginetta G55 GT4 Cars.
Jordan Stilp and William Philips move up to British GT from Ginetta Supercup and the Mini Challenge respectively.
Stilp is keen to get started;
“I’m really looking forward to this year working with Tony Gillham and Team HARD in what will be an exciting championship in British GT,” he said.
“In 2015 I had the opportunity to do the last two rounds of the BTCC Ginetta support series, which was fantastic for me as I managed to pull out a P2 and fastest lap on my first outing. I am really looking forward to seeing what we can bring to the table in terms of podiums; that’s what I will be aiming for all the way.”
Philips is also excited;
“I’m looking forward to a challenging season ahead,” he said. “There’s a lot to learn with a new car and a new team, but I’m massively excited to be working alongside Tony Gilham and Team HARD. To have a team mate I’ve known my whole life is also a massive advantage. We may be a new team entering the British GT but we’re going straight for the title this year. I’d like to thank my sponsors Magic Plastic for giving me this opportunity.”
Team boss Gillham added;
Gilham agreed, adding: “It’s great being able to bring two cars into such a competitive series and we’ve got four very quick drivers who will be taking to the track. The dynamic between Stilp and Phillips is fantastic as they’ve been friends for years, we’re all eager to see what they can do.”
