The young Yorkshireman is at what is closest to being his home circuit and despite a brush with a tyre stack at the chicane he has looked quick round the track all day but various issues had prevented him from putting a really quick lap together but at the end of this session, he set personal bests in all sectors to set a time of 1:24.511.

Tom Ingram was equally as quick and missed out on being fastest by just 0.009 seconds. Andrew Jordan was next up in the Pirtek Ford Focus just a further 0.004 seconds off Tom Ingram’s Speedworks Toyota. His team mate Mat Jackson is struggling down in 22nd. That’s just ahead of the first session pace setter, Aiden Moffat who was mysteriously off the pace this time.

Sam Tordoff continues to impress putting his ballast laden JCT600 with Gardx BMW in fourth spot with team mate Collard back in sixteenth.

Three Subarus are next in the order and there was a surprise when team boss Warren Scott was the quickest of them ahead of Jason Plato and Colin Turkington. They are fifth, sixth and seventh respectively in their Silverline BMR Subarus. James Cole was twenty fifth in the fourth car.

Rob Austin looks more like his old self in eighth after struggling to get on the pace so far this seasonin his Handy Motorsport Toyota Avensis. He is just ahead of friend and former team mate, Hunter Abbott, going well to take ninth in his Power Maxed Racing Chevrolet.

Jack Goff completes the top ten in his IHG Hotels BMW. Adam Morgan narrowly missed out on a top ten and took eleventh fastest time in his Wix Racing Mercedes ahead of Aron Smith’s BKR VW CC.

Thirteenth was Matt Neal’s works Halfords Yuasa Racing Honda with both the team’s cars strangely off the pace, team mate Shedden was seventeenth. Michael Epps and Jake Hill made up the rest of the front half of the field in their RCIB Insurance racing Toyotas in fourteenth and fifteenth.

With Daniel Lloyd fastest, the rest of the Eurotech team were struggling with Martin Depper and Jeff Smith in eighteenth and nineteenth.

This time the top twenty three were separated by just over a second.

Qualifying gets underway at 4pm and with such a close field, pole could go to anyone!
