Rebecca JacksonThis weekend Rebecca will hop in a car built for one of the toughest races on the planet, the Nurburgring 24h.

The SCG003C combines the looks of a GT car with the engineering of a prototype, the potential for this car is limitless.

This race weekend sees the launch of Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus’ (SCG) customer racing programme. Rebecca will be taking part in the DMV GTC races to help promote this fun new way of racing at a professional level.

Anyone taking part in the customer racing programme will get the same support as pro-level drivers. This gives anyone the chance to be part of a LMP1-style environment. Something Rebecca is very excited about. She says: “I can’t wait to get in the car at Zolder this weekend. The customer racing programme is a fantastic idea from SCG and gives everyone the chance to race at this level, whether they are experienced drivers or amateurs.”

The SCG003C has raced in the likes of the 24-Hour series, the VLN and more. It’s a fantastic machine built by Manifattura Automobili Torino (MAT).

The main focus was aerodynamic efficiency, and the car needed to be light and powerful as well. Additionally, the engineering had to consider the non-stop intensity of the Nürburgring 24 Hours. It was a tough brief with a tight timescale, but two SCG003Cs, Macchinauno and Macchinadue, first competed in the 2015 Nürburgring 24 Hours with class-winning success.

The striking aerodynamic bodywork helps to produce 1000 kilograms of downforce while only weighing 105 kilograms.

Racing for 24 hours non-stop means that the cockpit has to be functional at night, so innovative cockpit dynamics and its special fluorescent paint are key areas of the design. Driving functions are located on the steering wheel, and the dash has three screens. The first is the regular information display, while the additional two screens are rear-view mirrors.

The car is powered by a 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6, which pumps out 650bhp. The result is a light, powerful car that is no doubt going to be a force to be reckoned with this weekend.
