New McLaren 720S makes its public debut in China

McLaren 720S McLaren Automotive will celebrate three years of success in China at Auto Shanghai 2017 (19 – 28 April), with the national debut of the new McLaren 720S supercar and the unveiling of a 570GT Commemorative Edition, of which just three examples will be produced.

The two cars will line up as part of the McLaren showcase at the biennial Chinese motor show, which positions itself as the world’s largest automobile trade fair.

The new McLaren 720S makes it first appearance in China in Performance specification, finished for the first time in a striking combination of Saros exterior paint colour and Jet Black/Xenon Yellow leather interior with visible carbon fibre Monocage II structure. A carbon fibre roof panel, rear bumper and door sills further enhance the extreme sporting intent of McLaren’s second-generation Super Series, with bonnet inlets, mirror casings, rear fender air intakes and front splitter in the same material.

McLaren China will begin taking orders for the new McLaren 720S as Auto Shanghai commences, with the first customer cars arriving in July.

Luxurious and refined, with a side-opening rear glass hatch offering an additional 220 litres of storage on the leather-lined Touring Deck, the 570GT is the ideal starting point for a special celebration model; designed with a focus on day-to-day usability and long distance comfort, it also provides the scintillating performance expected of a McLaren.

Pacific Blue in colour – the original launch colour for the GT – the three identical Commemorative Edition cars feature a Jet Black and Areia (cream) luxury Nappa leather-trimmed By McLaren McLaren China Commemorative Edition 570GTDesign interior. The rear luggage area of the car is finished in the same material, and carpets are colour-matched in Areia. A Carbon Black leather steering wheel and Carbon Black seat belts contrast with the light leather and complement the Jet Black fascia and door trim, while additional features above the usual 570GT specification include Bowers & Wilkins 12 Speaker audio system, vehicle nose lift and a rear-view camera.

To further enhance the visual drama of the car, the rear bumper and wing, door skirt and front splitter and blade are carbon fibre components by McLaren Special Operations and the lightweight forged alloy wheels and exhausts are in Stealth finish.
