A scorching weekend at the MINI Festival for Rebecca Racer

She started the weekend by qualifying in P26 and was keen to overtake as many cars as she could going into the first race.

Rebecca managed to overtake eight cars in just two laps, helped along by ex-F1 driver Mark Blundell who was racing as a guest. Blundell spun and Rebecca was able to move past the cars trying to avoid him. From there she was making great pace and was leaving the cluster of cars behind. That was until she suffered oversteer going into a corner. Rebecca says: “Going into Graham Hill bend, the left-hander at the bottom of the hill after Druids, I oversteered and thought I had it saved only for it to swap ends and it was my turn to spin.”

This resulted in cars getting by but Rebecca was able to chase them down and make a few passes before the end of the race, resulting in a P23 finish.

Race two was full of action. Rebecca got a brilliant start from 23rd on the grid and enjoyed the close racing with the cars around her. Two safety cars and some incidents on track made for an interesting race, in which Rebecca finished P19.

The final race of the weekend saw Rebecca get another cracking start and she was having some great battles before another car crashed into the back of her at Druids. The collision made the rear diffuser drop, completely spoiling the JCW’s handling. Rebecca managed to finish the race but it was in a disappointing 25th place.

Overall, it was a fun weekend with plenty of battles on track. This was all topped off with a great pit walk with photo and autograph sessions.

As well as her usual racing duties, Rebecca also filmed a video for Ryan Motorsport Insurance and did a photoshoot for DENSO.

Rebecca says: “Thank you to MINI, MINI Challenge, Excelr8, DENSO, Belstaff, UK Postbox, Ryan Motorsport Insurance and M6 Toll for making racing happen! I had an absolute blast
