The race at the Norfolk circuit will replace the standard race three reverse grid race that normally is the final BTCC race of the weekend.

In it’s place will be a double length race taking place over sixty miles. All cars will compete without success ballast of any kind and double points will be awarded to the scorers (Top 15).

The race will have it’s own separate qualifying session taking place on Saturday when the cars will also run with no success ballast.

The race will form part of the thirty race championship and the other 9 meetings will consist of three normal length races.

The special Snetterton race forms part of the normal Snetterton BTCC weekend, taking place on the 28th and 29th July 2018,

Snetterton was also the venue for the night races the BTCC held in the 1990’s and is always a popular race weekend. The special race should give the weekend an even bigger boost.

There are also further 60th anniversary celebrations planned across the 2018 season with more details released in due course.

“We are delighted to confirm this special extended race as part of the BTCC’s diamond jubilee celebrations. As well, there will be a number of additional activities to celebrate our 60th anniversary throughout 2018 which will be revealed over the next few months.

Said BTCC Series Director Alan Gow

“We believe this 60-mile race, roughly double the distance of a normal BTCC encounter, will add a further sporting twist to what will be a fantastic and memorable season. I am sure our loyal teams, drivers, venues, officials, sponsors, partners, marshals and of course our fans will share in this excitement, making the Snetterton race weekend an unmissable event in 2018.”
