Toyota Gazoo Racing claim 1-2 in qualifying session for the TOTAL 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, the 7th round of the 2018-2019 FIA World Endurance Championship Super Season.
Kamui Kobayashi and Mike Conway set an average lap time of 1m53.747s to claim their third pole of Super Season. They will share the No.7 with José Maria Lopez. Conway set the outright best time of 1m53.683, 1.1 seconds faster than last season’s best qualifying lap and is the fastest ever WEC pole lap.
The No.8 Toyota Gazoo Racing car driven by Kazuki Nakajima and Sébastien Buemi is second and 0.4 seconds behind the sister Toyota TS050 HYBRID. Fernando Alonso will start his penultimate WEC race in this car.
SMP Racing finished qualifying in third and fifth as No.17 starts ahead of No.11 sister BR1 with Belgian Stoffel Vandoorne making his WEC debut.
Fourth and sixth start for Rebellion Racing as the No.1 car eclipses the No.3 entry in the session that saw a few light rain showers.
Ford takes LMGTE Pro top spot with Priaulx and Tincknell
The LMGTE Pro class grid is headed by the No.67 Ford Chip Ganassi car of Andy Priaulx and Harry Tincknell. Priaulx set a dramatic late lap to complete an average of 2m12.885s to take his second consecutive pole position at Spa for No.67 Ford GT
Aston Martin will start second as local hero Maxime Martin and Alex Lynn set an average of 2m12.952s in the No.97 Vantage just 0.067 behind.
The No.82 BMW Team MTEK of Augusto Farfus and Antonio Felix da Costa will start third with an average time of 2m12.977.
There are three different manufacturers placed in the top three and are separated by just 0.092s.
G-Drive and TF Sport lead in LMP2 and GTE Am
LMP2 witnesses pole for
The G-Drive Racing Aurus 01 Gibson with Job Van Uitert and Jean-Eric Vergne took the LMP2 pole position with an average time of 2m00.674s. Vergne set a best lap of 2m00.003s on track where G-Drive has won three times since 2014.
Second and third in LMP2 was the Jackie Chan DC Racing squad as No.38 ORECA 07-Gibson driven by Gabriel Aubry and Stéphane Richelmi just edged out No.37 car of Will Stevens and David Heinemeier-Hansson.
LMGTE Am sees TF Sport Aston Martin Vantage claim its first WEC pole as Salih Yoluc and Charlie Eastwood beat the opposition with an average time of 2m16.061s, with Eastwood setting the fastest individual lap of 2m15.016s.
Second in LMGTE Pro is the No.88 Dempsey-Proton Racing Porsche of Gianluca Roda and Matteo Cairoli. The Points-leading Team Project 1 Porsche of Egidio Perfetti and Jörg Bergmeister took third.
