New Honda Super-N priced

Honda Super-N

Honda has revealed that its new Super-N compact EV will be priced from just £18,995 when it goes on sale in Great Britain. Designed to deliver an exciting and uplifting small car experience and fine-tuned on British roads, the Super-N promises a unique dynamic performance and an affordable route to electric mobility that fully showcases the brand’s ‘joy of driving’ philosophy.

Engineered on the lightweight platform of the hugely popular N Series ‘Kei’ car range sold in Japan, the Super-N takes its inspiration from the legendary 1980’s City Turbo II.

At the heart of the Super-N’s exciting driving experience is ‘BOOST Mode’, which increases the power output of its compact e-Axle from 47kW to 70kW, fully revealing its performance potential and delivering a 0-62mph time of 10.0 seconds (vs. 14.51 seconds in ‘Normal Mode’). As with the City Turbo II, the emphasis is on a fun, responsive and accessible driving experience in all environments, from crowded city streets to the open road. Unlike traditional EV models the Super-N is extremely light, which makes it feel more agile and engaging to drive, just like the City Turbo II.

Powered by a thin and lightweight 29.6kW lithium-ion battery, the Super-N weighs just 1,097kg and delivers a ‘combined’ range of 128 miles (WLTP). However, in urban driving environments, where the compact and nimble Super-N is likely to spend much of its time, the battery provides a ‘city’ range of 199 miles (WLTP). It can be recharged to 80% using a 50kW DC supply in just 30 minutes.

Following the company’s ‘Man-Maximum, Machine-Minimum’ (M/M) development approach, the Super-N has been created to effortlessly meet the needs of the driver and passengers. Based on the Honda N-Series kei-car, Japan’s best-selling model line, it features a cleverly packaged interior that delivers space that’s similar to models in the class above. Despite measuring just 3,599mm in length and 1,573mm wide, this ultra compact model provides enough space for four adults to sit in comfort.

The Super-N also features the brand’s renowned Honda ‘Magic Seats’ configuration, where they can be folded in multiple ways. As a result, the luggage area is extremely versatile, with a maximum capacity of 162 litres with the rear seats up. In the dive-down configuration, the available space is increased to 967 litres, which is one of the largest in the A-segment.

The Super-N’s bold exterior styling helps create a sense of anticipation. With a striking exterior design that plays tribute to the iconic City Turbo II, it features a similarly distinctive wide stance, flared wheel arches, and purposeful aero ducts, each element combining to deliver delight and exhilaration in equal measure.

Inside, it features bolstered front seats that have been designed for greater support and comfort. The interior also benefits from distinctive blue highlights that pay homage to the original City Turbo II, while ambient lighting bathes the dashboard in a cool blue light, changing to a bold purple when BOOST Mode is selected.

When combined with a unique simulated seven-speed transmission and Honda’s advanced Active Sound Control system that generates an engaging engine sound, the Super-N provides the instant response of an EV with the strong emotional connection of driving a combustion engine vehicle.
