Denza has revealed UK pricing and full specifications for the D9, the first seven‑seat premium MPV to feature its game‑changing FLASH Charging technology.
Available to order now, the D9 is offered in two trim levels; starting with the Elegance which is priced from £75,000 MRRP, while the range-topping Ultimate is priced at £85,000. Both models are supported by a Super Hybrid Dual Mode Intelligent and All-Wheel Drive (DM-i AWD) plug-in hybrid powertrain that blends refinement and efficiency in both hybrid and pure-electric modes.
The powertrain itself consists of two electric motors: a front-mounted unit produces 231PS, while a rear motor provides a further 61PS. In most situations, these two motors drive the wheels alone, but during greater torque demands, they are backed up by a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine. However, in most driving situations, this 120PS four-cylinder engine serves as a generator for the battery and electric motors. The DM-i AWD powertrain allows the D9 to accelerate from 0-62mph in 8.6 seconds.
Occupant comfort is assured, thanks to the DiSus-C intelligent damping system. Integrated into the MacPherson strut front suspension and multi-link layout at the rear, the rates of compression and rebound damping adjust to deliver both assured body control through the corners with a supple ride on rougher road surfaces.
The D9 sets new standards for a plug-in hybrid powertrain in the segment, especially thanks to its compatibility with FLASH Charging technology. This means that the D9’s battery can recharge from 10-70% in just five minutes, 10-97% in nine minutes, while a 20-97% charge, even at -30°C, takes just 12 minutes. This is the equivalent of a maximum charging power of 559kW. At 58.5kWh, the D9 can travel up to 130 miles on a full charge, while the assistance of the petrol engine for longer journeys enables a range of 590 miles on a full charge and a full tank of fuel.
Regardless of the trim level selected, the D9 offers an exceptional level of standard equipment.
This starts with the Elegance, where powered sliding doors make for easy ingress and egress for the second and the third-row passengers. All seats are trimmed in leather, while the cabin is bathed in daylight thanks to a 1.1m2 panoramic glass roof with an electric sunshade. An LCD armrest in each of the second-row seats allow their occupants to control climate and infotainment functions with incredible ease. A cooling and heating compartment for storing food and drinks, plus a Devialet sound system help to enhance comfort on every journey.
Front occupants are superbly catered for, too, with the front seats equipped with heating, ventilation and a 10-point massage function. A heated steering wheel is also included, while a 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system, complete with Google built-in, and a 10.25-inch instrument panel ensure that the D9 provides a class-leading level of in-car technology.
The Ultimate trim builds on the standard specification of the Elegance with several features exclusive to the flagship trim level. Access is made even easier with a foot gesture activation for the sliding doors and tailgate, and once inside the second row becomes even more sumptuous. Zero gravity seats, which have 14-way adjustment, 16-point massaging and can recline up to 152 degrees for a true business class-style resting position. Each of these occupants also benefit from their own 12.8-inch entertainment screen mounted to the back of the seats ahead.
The premium features extend further than the middle row, however. All seven seats are finished in an even higher grade of Nappa leather, while seat heating and ventilation is available to all occupants. The driver benefits from a 12-inch head-up display, while an additional 10.25-inch display is added ahead of the front seat passenger, and rear visibility, even with a full complement of passengers, remains clear thanks to the addition of a digital rear view mirror display. The cabin is completed by wood trim inserts which span the dashboard and blend seamlessly into the door panels.
The D9’s seven-seat layout offers exceptional cabin space across all three rows, yet also offers generous space for luggage. With all seven seats in place – and depending on their position – boot capacity ranges from 430 to 570 litres, while maximum load capacity in four seat mode is up to 2,310 litres.
