Jason Plato has won again at Snetterton in the second BTCC race of the day after coming out on top of a race long duel with Ebay Motors Colin Turkington.
The two again pulled away from the rest of the field but this time Turkington took the lead at the start.
Behind them there was further lap one chaos, this time the end result was BMR Restart Racing’s Alain Menu in the wall and out of the race. This bought out the safety car, (Incidentally driven for the first time ever in the BTCC by a female driver, Jade Edwards.) which stayed out for several laps while Menu’s car was cleared.
Turkington and Plato then pulled away once more swapping position several times during the race but it was Plato that came out on top once again. Turkington wasn’t to disappointed to finish second as he keeps his championship lead on a track which wasn’t expected to suit his BMW.
Behind Gordon Shedden took third from Yuasa Honda team mate Matt Neal. Neal managed to battle his way past Adam Morgan who had been hoping for a podium. Morgan then hung on to take fifth. Matt Jackson led home Fabrizio Giovanardi, the two taking a double points finish in their Ford Focuses. Aron Smith was the best of the BMR Restart VW’s in Eighth with Jack Goff just outside the top ten in eleventh and Warren Scott retired after colliding with Jack Clarke’s Crabbies Focus.
Ninth was Plato’s team mate Sam Tordoff ahead of Marc Hynes in the Satelite MG team, Quantel Bifold racing. Andrew Jordan got up into the points during the race only to get spun off but mounted an excellent recovery drive to finish fifteenth in the last of the points scoring positions.
Hunter Abbott had a bizarre incident when a run in with Robb Holland spun him off. For some reason this cut the electrics so Hunter climbed out, reset the electrics, then climbed in and redid his belts! In the circumstances 24th wasn’t a bad result, although he was second to last of the classified finishers!

Today’s final BTCC race is at 4:57pm. Eighth place was drawn for the reverse grid, meaning Aron Smith starts from pole alongside Fabrizio Giovanardi.
STOP PRESS. It has just been announced that Andrew Jordan has been forced to withdraw from race three. He showed signs of exhaustion and the BTCC medical team decided that it wasn’t safe for him to race. This ends a nightmare weekend for Jordan where he has scored a single point, losing him a lot of ground in his attempts to defend his 2013 title. By Marc Waller
