Also at Silverstone, Vanina Ickx and Marta García resumed their 2025 Michelin Le Mans Cup campaign and entered the penultimate round of the season in strong form, fresh from a podium finish at the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps in August.

In Qualifying, Vanina showed clear pace and battled to pole position to lead the GT3 field to green on Saturday evening for the one-hour and 50-minute affair.

When running commenced, the Belgian maintained her starting position over the opening minutes of her stint before settling into third after being overtaken by the #51 AF Corse Ferrari and #11 Code Racing AMR Aston Martin.

There was hard racing throughout the field, and an early Full Course Yellow and subsequent Safety Car caused a long pause in action over the opening hour before the race was resumed with 70 minutes to go.

After the restart, Vanina pitted to hand the car over to Marta who, soon into her stint, was pushed onto the back foot after being tipped into a spin by the #64 M Racing Ligier, although she continued to hold third.

From here, the 2023 F1 Academy champion continued to press forward and moved up to second after clearing the #11 Aston Martin before chasing down the #51 Ferrari for the lead.

When the Ferrari was tipped into a spin, also by the #64 Ligier, Marta vaulted into first place and despite facing a late Full Course Yellow, ran to a controlled finish to take the chequered flag 42 seconds ahead of her next closest competitor.

By taking victory at Silverstone, Vanina and Marta secured a historic win for the Iron Dames, with the team becoming the first in history to win a race at all levels of the ACO endurance ladder.

Vanina and Marta will be back in action in the Michelin Le Mans Cup on 18 October for the 2025 season finale in Portimão, Portugal.

MARTA GARCÍA “We are very proud of this win at Silverstone. We’ve been waiting for this result for quite a long time, and we’re very proud of the work that the team has put in to get us into this position. All of the guys did an amazing job, especially Vanina who was very strong in Qualifying and during her first stint.” By Melissa Warren
