Kia has confirmed UK pricing and full specifications for its trio of new GT models: the EV3 GT, EV4 GT and EV5 GT. As the brand’s first GT variants built on the 400‑volt Electric Global Modular Platform (E‑GMP), they fuse the everyday practicality of their standard counterparts with a more dynamic, performance‑focused character — injecting fresh energy, sharper responses and genuine excitement into daily driving.
In order to maximise the overall driving experience, all GTs are fitted with Kia’s 6-speed Virtual Gear Shift system, with Active Sound Design to match. Operated via the steering wheel-mounted paddles when in GT, MyDrive, Sport and Normal modes, drivers can progress through six simulated ‘gears’ when accelerating up to and slowing down from speed, each offering seamless audible, visual and tactile feedback for maximum driver engagement.
This also has dynamic benefits as drivers can hold a gear through corners to maintain consistent power, ensure maximum power out of tight bends by selecting a lower gear or use ‘engine’ braking (powered by variable regenerative braking levels depending on gear) when entering corners.
This works together with Active Sound Design, where users can choose the volume level for the simulated engine noise. The VGS can also be activated to simulate a six-speed automatic gearbox, with a long press of the right paddle. In manual mode, drivers can hit a ‘rev limiter ‘in each gear, simulating petrol powered performance cars.
Launch control, performance timer, ECS and EDTV are also applied to all vehicles, ensuring they remain some of the most technologically advanced models in their respective classes.
Amongst Kia’s trifecta of GT variants is the EV4 GT, a reimagination of the brand’s five-seat C-segment family hatchback. Designed, engineered and manufactured in Europe, for Europe, the new variant takes the EV4’s award-winning formula and dials it up, with all the GT goodness mentioned above. The EV4 GT also becomes the first model in the C-segment hatchback market to feature Hyundai Motor Group’s renowned VGS, as Kia now offers the system in every one of its GT EVs.
The EV4 GT is neither an out-and-out performance car nor a track-day weapon, instead embodying Kia’s own GT ethos of offering everyday useable power and performance to bring more excitement to the driving experience, while retaining a familiar, comfortable character when required thanks to its front-biased set-up.
With a heavy focus on precision, responsiveness and driver connection, the EV4 GT moves away from the traditional fast-EV approach of point-and-shoot, straight-line speed. Instead, it has been designed, engineered and put into production in the heart of Europe, with a predominant focus on European drivers and roads.
While Kia by no means expects the EV4 GT to overtake the standard EV4 in UK sales volume, it is expected to become the most popular of Kia’s GT line-up.
The Kia EV4 GT costs £49,345 on-the-road. Keeping the browsing and buying process as simple as possible it is offered in a single, highly-equipped trim level, meaning the only option for customers to choose from is the paint. While the standard paint finish is white, all other premium paint options are offered for an additional £650.
