Tom Ingram took the fastest time in second practice as the front of the field took on a different look to the first session.
Ingram pushed his Speedworks Toyota Avensis to a time which was nearly half a second quicker than his nearest rival. The 1:16.542 was only four tenths off the qualifying record raising the prospect of the record tumbling in qualifying later.
Andrew Jordan remained at the front in the Pirtek Focus with second but Aiden Moffat impressed with third in his Laser Tools Racing Mercedes – Class, taking the slot late in the session.
Jack Goff moved up to fourth for this session, the Buckinghamshire driver seemingly having no trouble adjusting to rear wheel drive in the IHG Hotels WSR run BMW 1 series.

Aron Smith again made the BKR team one to watch for this season with a seventh position ahead of Rob Austin who might be finally getting to grips with the front wheel drive Handy Motorsport Avensis after years driving Sherman, his rear wheel drive Audi A4.
Jeff Smith again was the best Eurotech car in ninth with Mat Jackson taking the second Motorbase run Ford Focus to tenth in the session.
Hunter Abbott had one of his best practice results this season with eleventh ahead of Daniel Lloyd in his new Eurotech Civic.The young driver is learning fast about his new car and team.
Colin Turkington was the best Subaru in thirteenth from Sam Tordoff’s JCT BMW in fourteenth and Dan Welch’s Proton rounding out the top half of the field.
Things seem to be getting worst for the ballast laden works Hondas as Shedden and Neal could only manage eighteenth and twentieth respectively. Jason Plato is also still looking for pace as he languishes down in twenty first.
The teams all use a single hard tyre at Thruxton for all sessions with no option tyre to use. This tyre used to be exclusive to Thruxton but Dunlop today announced that the Hard tyre will replace the usual soft option tyre (that teams have to use for one race per weekend) at Croft and Rockingham.
