Austin, who started the race from third got a good start and led the field going into the Deene Hairpin for the first time.

Gordon Shedden took second place ahead of Colin Turkington, whose rear-wheeled drive eBay Motors BMW made up places in the greasy conditions.

Mat Jackson had another successful race for Airwaves Racing to finish in fourth while race one winner Andrew Jordan could only manage eighth in his heavily weighted Pirtek Racing Honda Civic.

Rob Collard in the second eBay BMW was running well having opted to use the soft option tyre for the second race and had some good battles with Dave Newsham in the latter stages of the race.

Collard nearly became tangled up with Honda Racing’s Matt Neal however, as the pair both looked to lock up coming out of the Deene Hairpin, causing speculation that there was oil on the track. Whilst Collard re-joined the field straightaway – albeit with a punctured tyre – Neal stepped out of his car and retired from the race.

Lea Wood took his second Jack Sears win of the day by finishing in nineteenth, whilst debutant Andy Wilmot and David Nye rounded off the classified finishers.      By Nikki Thompson – Photo by Marc Waller
