2014 BTCC season launched in style at Donington Park

BTCC day (Photo by Marc Waller)The Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship swung back into life at Donington Park yesterday.

Journalists and photographers alike flocked to the Leicestershire based circuit as a bumper pack of 31 cars came together for the first time. Fans of the series have waited a long five months to see their favourite stars in action and today got to witness the first official test of the season. The four hour test featured tricky conditions including spring showers and blustery winds – with some red flags also thrown into the mix.

Reigning champion Andrew Jordan topped the timesheets, followed closely behind by Gordon Shedden and returning champ Alain Menu. Airwaves Racing announced that Mat Jackson would be returning to their outlet for the 2014 season, in a deal confirmed only this morning. Jackson will line up alongside legend Fabrizio Giovanardi and BTCC-debutant Jack Clarke in the Crabbies Racing emblazed Motorbase-Ford Focus. The drivers have just over a week to prepare for the season starter at Brands Hatch which gets underway on the 29/30th March.    By Nikki Thompson – Photos by Marc Waller
