No luck in Norfolk for Emily Glanvill

after a lot of bad luck for the first few rounds of the season she was hoping that this would be the weekend where things would finally go her way.

Unfortunately as soon as Friday testing got underway things were already going wrong with the car down on power. The team fixed the car ready for Saturday but as Emily started circulating in the qualifying session, the problem returned. Despite this, Emily managed to set a time which left her eighteenth on the grid for race one and her second fastest time was good enough for twentieth on the grid for race two.

The team tried to solve the problem for race one but with the whole JSCC meeting on one day this time, their time was very limited.

Emily got a great start as the lights went out for the first race and passed several cars as the field passed the first few corners. But as they emerged on the back straight, her car was once again visibily slower than the others and the cars she had passed started finding their way back through. Eventually the car stopped altogether.

Again the team got to work on the car with only limited time to get it sorted out. By the time the cars went out for the start of race two, Emily’s car was working again although no one was sure quite how well it would go.

Things seemed fine as the lights went out as she again got a good start but it was a case of Déjà vu as once she reached the back straight she lost power once again with the car again stopping altogether.

At a circuit that Emily had been looking forward to, she had barely been able to drive a competitive lap for the whole meeting. Emily, although disappointed tried to remain positive and kept her sense of humour;

“People keep telling me about the importance of consistency. I’m half way there as our weekend at Snetterton was certainly consistent, just unfortunate that it was consistently bad!” She continued;

“It was frustrating as we didn’t collect a single point all weekend and I would have loved to have had a chance to race that track properly! Fingers crossed our bad luck is well and truly over!”

She was full of praise for her hard working team as they’d tried to fix her car “The guys in the OREX Competition garage had a very busy time. They worked tirelessly on the whole team’s cars and were very supportive. I know they were just as disappointed as me by the car’s performance – with the work they put in, I was gutted not to be able to reward them with success.”

“The limited time we spent on track this weekend wasn’t massively enjoyable, until the end when things got so bad they almost became comical! But I guess you’ve got to experience the lows in order to appreciate the highs. Thankfully everyone kept me smiling off the track so overall it was still a nice trip away from the stress of exams! A Big thank you in particular to my mechanics (Andrew, Paul and Jordan), Dave, Michelle, James and the Clarke family for their support over what was a tough few days. I could never have got through the weekend without each of them, I’m incredibly grateful. A busy three weeks now await for the guys at Orex, to find the cause of our problems and fix it before Rockingham but I have no doubt that they will do it! We’ll come back fighting!” By Marc Waller
