The Superb is one of Skoda’s top of the range cars and it sits very well at the top thanks to its incredibly stylish lines and spacious interior.
The Superb is also one of the most technologically advanced out of all the range and is a perfect fit for a family looking for something with class or a business executive who’s looking for additional comforts. Prices for the Superb also start at around 25k which makes it the perfect buy – and I would say it is one of the best compact executive cars you can buy at the moment.
Power and Efficiency:
Powered by a 2.0 litre 280PS TSi engine that is mated perfectly to a six-speed DSG gearbox with 4X4. Max speed comes in at 155mph and a 0-62 time of around 5.8 seconds. Fuel economy is also good with a combined figure of 39.2mpg.
Design & Technology
The Skoda designers have done a ‘superb’ job here of making one of the best looking estate cars to date. For many years people have refrained from buying an estate car because most are just plain boring – but not the Superb – because the Superb comes with an array of sleek features such as; the imposed bonnet lines and those sharp razor like flanks that detail the sophistication and design of the exterior.
On the inside you are welcomed by soft interior touches with chrome elements and a general sense of quality on the inside. You really can see that the Skoda designers have pulled out all the stops to make the Superb look and feel like a top quality executive class machine that is just as good – if not a little better than some of its rivals in a like for like comparison.
Inside; there’s also plenty of standard kit – like Air-con, Adaptive Cruise Control, duel zone climate control, rear parking sensors, Columbus satellite navigation system with 8” touch screen, Bluetooth handsfree, 3-spoke multi-function steering wheel, LED rear lights, Bi-Xenon headlights and ESC inc – ABS, EBV, MSR, ASR, HBA, DSR, RBS, CBC, multi collision brake (MKB) and autohold.
On the road:
The Superb really is in a class of its own – thanks again to that brilliant engine, chassis and gearbox which is pretty much an all round perfect fit. Also, into the corners – it feels poised and tight and easily deals with all the pot holes and bumps on our roads. The steering also feels light and direct, while Skoda’s 4X4 system has been brilliantly set up to be in tune with the Superb in every way– giving you maximum grip and confidence at high speed and under heavy cornering.
To sum up: a brilliant machine from Skoda and one that I am already missing a great deal. Price: £33,295 (as tested) By Anthony Yates
