Putting Some Style On And In Your Car (Without It Looking Tacky)

Modified car

Modified carWhen we get a new car we want to make it a bit more “us”, but when thoughts turn to customising the vehicle, we can run the risk of making it look incredibly tacky!

Customising your car is one of those delicate balances, you want to make it a bit more personable and something that is a bit more you, but at the same time, you don’t want to look like an idiot! What are our options?

Personalised Number Plates
Sometimes the simplest method is the best one. Personalised or private number plate is a great way to put your name, literally, on your car. You can search for private number plates from here, and while it’s possible that your ideal number plate has already been stolen (damn you “I GOTA P”!) You can still find something that’s pretty close!

Customised Upholstery
Upholstery can change the entire feel of the interior of the vehicle, but be careful not to overdo it with the colours! If you want your car to be representative of all of the colours of the rainbow, then go ahead! Otherwise, all you need to do is put some custom leather in there, and maybe an additional shade to the main colour. Customised upholstery isn’t just a lovely way to communicate your style, it’s a perfect way to get a little bit of comfort, especially with nice leather.

Weight Reduction
Maybe you don’t need to go on a diet, but does your car? We know how much more economical a car can be if it’s much lighter, the fuel economy gets better, the car accelerates quicker, and takes corners much better than ever. The best way to do this is to replace the roof and hood, and if you don’t use the rear seats, get rid of them!

Change Your Exhaust
The problem with a new exhaust is that a lot of them are designed to make the car sound louder. If you want to maintain a conversation with your fellow passenger, an exhaust that sounds like the gates of hell just broke wind isn’t the way to go about it! Instead, choose an exhaust pipe that has a decent decibel level, but also adds a little bit more horsepower to the vehicle.

Swap The Pedals
While there are plenty of customisable pedals out there, if you’re looking for something that has a bit more of that veritable Formula 1 feel, there’s no point in going for some pointless aluminium pedals. Get some real pedals that are motorsport ready, it will feel more like the real thing, and you will be able to control the car a lot easier.

Yes, you’ve probably got a friend out there that’s got some stupid fuzzy dice hanging from their rear view mirror. And instead of chastising them for telling them they look like they’re as contemporary as disco music, maybe it’s worth pointing them in the direction of a few of these cosmetic changes. Tacky is the enemy when we’re making our car look the business!
