BTCC: First race triumph for MG at Donington

Jason Plato overcame the tricky conditions to take the first win in today’s opening Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship race at Donington Park.
Jason Plato has taken pole for tomorrow’s first BTCC race at Donington Park, breaking the lap record in the process. His lap of 1:09.460 beat the previous best of 1m.10.129 set by Matt Neal in 2011.
Sam Tordoff gave himself a birthday present as he was fastest in second Practice at Donington. Tordoff, who is 25 today will now hope to replicate the position in qualifying.
Aron Smith of Chrome edition Restart racing took the top spot as the second BTCC meeting of the year got underway at Donington Park with a laptime of 1:10.041. This was quicker than pole last year.
