Setting the second fastest time of the session was Lorenzo’s Yamaha team-mate Valentino Rossi, in third Repsol’s Dani Pedrosa. LCR Honda Stefan Bradl took fourth while the Ducati duo Andrea Dovizioso and Nicky Hayden followed on behind the German. Monster Yamaha Tech3’s Cal Crutchlow Ioda Racings Danilo Petrucci, PBM team had both riders in the top ten with Yonny Hernandez in ninth and Michael Laverty taking tenth.
But with horrid weather conditions during today’s practice, it was current MotoGP World Champion Jorge Lorenzo who suffered a nasty high-side crash resulting in the Mallorcan being taken straight to the medical centre where tests showed he had a broken collarbone. He will stay in hospital for more tests including a CT scan. And will return to Spain for an operation which will take place tomorrow, he will not be taking part in Saturday’s race. By Laura Turner
