Marquez takes thrilling MotoGP Pole in Indianapolis

 

Marc Marquez (photo by MotoGP)Spain’s Marc Marquez claimed a brilliant pole position at the Red Bull Indianapolis GP with a time of 1.37’958, taking his fourth pole of the year so far,

factory Yamaha’s Jorge Lorenzo and Repsol Honda’s Dani Pedrosa take the final positions on tomorrow’s starting grid.


Monster Yamaha Tech3 rider Cal Crutchlow took fourth followed by GO&FUN Honda Gresini’s Alvaro Bautista, completing the second row is Ducati’s rider Nicky Hayden. Following on in seventh is Crutchlow’s team-mate Bradley Smith. Starting from eighth but lower than he had looked set to be was LCR Honda’s Stefan Bradl. The German had been third fastest in most practice sessions only to suffer a crash at turn one, this scuppered his chances of qualifying any higher.

In ninth and tenth are Yamaha’s Valentino Rossi and Ducati’s Andrea Dovizioso. Ignite Pramac Racing rider Ben Spies who must feel like he is cursed after making his return to the sport this weekend only to again suffer a crash in the third free practice session, the American has a separation to his left shoulder and will now miss this race and the next round at the Czech Republic.  By Laura Turner
