Yamaha’s Jorge Lorenzo went quickest at today’s free practice session at the Hertz British Grand Prix at the Silverstone circuit, the Spaniard was followed on by Repsol Honda duo Marc Marquez and Dani Pedrosa.
GO&FUN Honda Gresini’s Alvaro Bautista took fourth with Lorenzo’s Yamaha team-mate Valentino Rossi just behind. Home rider Cal Crutchlow was sixth on his Monster Yamaha Tech3 machine. Ducati rider Andrea Dovizioso claimed seventh place with Oxfordshire rookie Bradley Smith in eighth. Rounding out the top ten quickest positions today was LCR Honda’s Stefan Bradl and Ducati’s Nicky Hayden.
Making his step-up in the premier class next year is current Moto2 World Championship leader Scott Redding after he announced yesterday that he will be joining the GO&FUN Honda Gresini team, having signed a two-year deal. By Laura Turner
