Marquez who took second even with a dislocated shoulder had looked set to take the win before Lorenzo pulled off a brilliant move to claim victory, but it was a fantastic second place for the rookie. Repsol Honda’s Dani Pedrosa took third.
Valentino Rossi beat the charge of GO&FUN Honda Gresini’s Alvaro Bautista. In sixth LCR Honda rider Stefan Bradl, home favourite Cal Crutchlow had a disappointing race after taking seventh, the Briton who qualified third would have hoped for a higher finishing position but having crashed three times over the race weekend suffered problems with grip with his injured arm. Following on was Ducati’s Nicky Hayden. Monster Yamaha tech3 rookie Bradley Smith took ninth but gained valuable experience from his first home GP in the premier class.

Top CRT ride of the day went to injured Aleix Espargaro on his Power Electronic Aspar machine.
