Jorge Lorenzo takes MotoGP victory in Japan

Jorge Lorenzo (photo by MotoGP)Yamaha’s Jorge Lorenzo was victorious at the AirAsia Grand Prix of Japan taking the title battle right down to the wire at Valencia in two weeks time for the first time since 2006.

In second Championship leader Marc Marquez and taking the final spot on the podium was Repsol Honda’s Dani Pedrosa.




GO&FUN Honda Gresini’s Alvaro Bautista set an impressive pace to take fourth place, he was followed by LCR Honda rider Stefan Bradl who did well to claim fifth position after returning from a injured ankle. Valentino Rossi had an interesting race after he fought his way back through the field from eleventh up to sixth. Monster Yamaha Tech3 duo Cal Crutchlow and Bradley Smith took seventh and eighth respectively.

Another set of team-mates completed the top ten with Nicky Hayden and Andrea Dovizioso both crossing the finish line on their Ducati’s. Top CRT rider was Colin Edwards on his NGM Mobile Forward Racing machine, with CRT Champion Aleix Espargaro crashing out.

MotoGP World Championship Standings are as follows –

2. Jorge Lorenzo – 305 Points
3. Dani Pedrosa – 280 Points
4. Valentino Rossi – 224 Points
