Extraordinary Marquez takes first MotoGP season win at Qatar

Marc Marquez (photo by MotoGP)Repsol Honda rider Marc Marquez took an extraordinary victory at the Commercial Back Grand Prix of Qatar just weeks after breaking his leg in a pre-season accident.,

the current MotoGP World Champion held off Yamaha’s Valentino Rossi to take the first win of the season. Marquez’s Team –mate Dani Pedrosa took a solid third position

NGM Forward Racings Aleix Espargaro claimed fourth under the floodlights of Losail, with the Ducati team of Andrea Dovizioso and Cal Crutchlow following on in fifth and sixth respectively . GO&FUN Honda Gresini’s rookie Scott Redding managed a credible seventh place in his first premier class outing. Aspar rider Nicky Hayden and NGM Forward Racings Colin Edwards rounded out the top ten.

Not classified was Yamaha’s Jorge Lorenzo who crashed out in the first lap at turn 15, GO&FUN Honda Gesini rider Alvaro Bautista, It was a bad start to the season for Monster Yamaha Tech3’s Bradley Smith and Pol Espargaro both with DNf, aslo not crossing the finish line was LCR Honda’s Stefan Bradl, who crashed out after leading the race. Hector Barbera also started the season with a DNF. The next race of the season will be held at the Circuit of Americas in Texas in three weeks time. By Laura Turner
