NGM Forward Racings Aleix Espargaro took his first pole position of his career at the Assen circuit in Holland, with a time of 1.38’789 he finished ahead of championship leader Marc Marquez and Dani Pedrosa.
Leading the second row was Andrea Iannone on his Pramac machine. Ducati’s Cal Crutchlow benefited from the rain as he qualified fifth. Tech3 Yamaha’s Bradley Smith took sixth position, ahead of Ducati’s Andrea Dovizioso. LCR Honda’s Stefan Bradl followed on behind respectively. In ninth Yamaha’s Jorge Lorenzo and completing the top ten is GO&FUN Honda Gresini’s Alvaro Bautista. By Laura Turner
