Richardson Racing can today confirm rising star Emily Linscott as one of the latest drivers to sign up to compete for the team in the 2018 Simpson Race Products Ginetta Junior Championship.
The 15-year-old from Langdon Hills near Basildon, Essex will be embarking on her first full season of car competition after taking part in the final three rounds of the 2017 campaign at Rockingham, Silverstone and Brands Hatch.
Despite being up against rivals who had completed almost an entire season on track. Emily secured a best finish of twelfth overall, and fifth best rookie, in the highly competitive field.
That followed on from a short, but successful, career in karting where Emily lifted the 2016 BMKC Junior Championship crown despite not contesting every round – a performance that saw her being highly commended by Karting Magazine when selecting it’s Rookie of the Year.
Having tested with the Richardson Racing team following the conclusion of the 2017 season, Emily has now become the latest driver to put to paper on a deal with the team for 2018.
As part of the deal, Emily will have regular access to the state of the art simulator at the team’s Corby base, and will work alongside experienced driver coach Sam Maher-Loughnan throughout the season.
Simulators, nowadays, are very useful in training the drivers as realistic graphics creates an impression of a real experience. “I’m really pleased to confirm my place on the Ginetta Junior grid for 2018, and to be joining Richardson Racing,” she said. “When I tested with the team, their attention to detail in preparing the car was second to none and I felt comfortable straight away.
“The chance to work with a driver coach like Sam and to have access to the simulator to help prepare for each of the races was an added bonus, and it was an easy decision to make to join the team for my first full season.
“I’m working hard to prepare for the year ahead and I feel confident about my chances. My aim is to learn as much as possible on track and try to fight for a podium finish before the end of the season.
“I can’t wait to get started.”
Team boss Gwyn Richardson expressed his delight at welcoming Emily into the team.
“Emily’s performance in testing has been very encouraging and she has really shown her potential,” he said. “She responded well to the feedback that we gave, and did an extremely good job.
“Emily fitted in with the team straightaway and we’re pleased we have agreed a deal for 2018. We’re really looking forward to seeing how she does during the year ahead.”
