It seems there’s nothing that can stop the charge of Marc Marquez after he took yet another stunning victory at the Aragon circuit in Spain,
Marquez who is only in his first season in the premier class managed to hold off second place man Jorge Lorenzo and pull away further in the World Championship standings. Valentino Rossi crossed the finish line in third place on his Factory Yamaha.
After a race long battle with Rossi GO&FUN Honda Gresini’s Alvaro Bautista had to settle for fourth after getting tangled up with LCR Honda rider Stefan Bradl.
In sixth was Monster Yamaha Tech3’s Cal Cruchlow and his team-mate Bradley Smith had a brilliant race after taking the chequered flag in seventh place.
Ducati’s Andrea Dovizioso, Nicky Hayden and Pramac’s Andrea Iannone rounded out the top ten. Taking top CRT was Aleix Espargaro on his Power Electronic Aspar machine.
It was a disappointing race for Repsol Honda rider Dani Pedrosa, having slightly touched with team-mate Marquez seconds later he had crashed in the middle of the track while Marquez went wide. Pedrosa’s team have said that due to contact with Marquez Pedrosa’s rear wheel speed sensor had been broken leaving him with no traction control. Luckily Pedrosa who celebrates his 28th Birthday today only sustained bruises.
Marquez now has a 39 point advantage over Lorenzo and only has to finish third in the last four races to take his first premier class world title. The Championship standings are as follows –
1. Marc Marquez – 278 Points
2. Jorge Lorenzo – 239 Points
3. Dani Pedrosa – 219 Points By Laura Turner
