BTCC: Shedden snatches first Honda Tourer victory at Donington

Podium (photo by Marc Waller)Gordon Shedden has won the third and final Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship race of the day at Donington Park.

Having led for the entire race, Colin Turkington had to settle for second as Gordon Shedden made his move on the final corner of the final lap, cutting across the gravel to take the win.

Honda team mate Matt Neal claimed third with Mat Jackson scoring a solid fourth place after battling throughout the race for Airwaves Racing.

Jason Plato struggled to maintain his soft tyres and fell back through the field, coming across the line in sixth behind Andrew Jordan.

Alain Menu also clawed his way back into the top ten having started from the rear, holding off from Adam Morgan who achieved his best result of the day in the WIX Racing Mercedes.

Another somewhat dramatic race, the safety car returned to the track after the opening lap, with Marc Hynes taking a trip into the tyres having made contact with Warren Scott.

Airwaves’ Fabrizio Giovanardi hit the Volkswagen of Aron Smith under braking at the chicane, which forced Smith into the Speedworks Toyota of Tom Ingram just before the safety car came onto the grid.
