82nd MotoGP win for Rossi in Australia

Track action (photo by MotoGP)Yamaha ace Valentino Rossi claimed a stunning victory at the Phillip Island circuit in Australia to take his 82nd Premier class win in a race of mixed results.

Rossi’s Teammate Jorge Lorenzo took second with Tech3 Yamaha’s Bradley Smith taking his first podium finish in the premier class.

In fourth Ducati’s Andrea Dovizioso, With Hector Barbera and Alvaro Bautista just behind. Bautista’s Go &fun Honda Gresini teammate Scott Redding crossed the finish line in seventh.

Completing the top ten was Hiroshi Aoyama, NGM’S Alex De Angelis and Aspar’s Nicky Hayden. It was a race full of incidents with crashes from Marc Marquez, Aleix & Pol Espargaro, Stefan Bradl , Karel Abraham, Cal Crutchlow and Andrea Iannone.

LCR Honda’s Stefan Bradl received a penalty point from race direction after his crash with Aleix Espargaro. as did Bradley Smith.

World Championship standings –
1. Marc Marquez – 312 Points
2. Valentino Rossi – 255 Points
3. Jorge Lorenzo – 247 Points
